February 2014 Events

In February 2014, our events were held in different schools near Manila.

We went to Philippine Agricultural Youth Leaders' Summit and gave a talk about "Applications for Agriculture in the Modern World." We've had a Thesis Ideation Seminar and a Dart Flight School event during the ICS Technology Expo of University of Santo Tomas on February 11 and 12, respectively. We also had our Dart Flight School Manila on February 15 at De La Salle University, Manila. In cooperation with PhilRobotics, we also talked about Android and Arduino at the Polytechnic University of The Philippines Annual ECE Conference (February 18). On February 22, we went to University of the Philippines -Los BaƱos for a GDG Campus Roadshow. We talked about Google Chrome, Google Maps API, Google Map Maker, YouTube API, and Google Programs for students.

GDG DevFest Philippines 2013

It's DevFest season once again! GDG Philippines is organizing GDG DevFest Philippines 2013 on September 17 at Alphaland Southgate Tower. What is a DevFest? DevFests are community-organized events that provides the opportunity for developers to learn about Google technologies and other developer products. This event is free; but slots are limited, so sign up early! To register and get more details about the event, visit our events website at http://devfest.gdgph.org. Pre-Startup Weekend Manila Bootcamp

GTUG/GDG Philippines, with the Startup Weekend Manila organizers, conducted a Pre-Startup Weekend Bootcamp last April 14, 2012 at MINT College. Pre-Startup Weekend Bootcamps are part of the partnership between Startup Weekend and Google. These bootcamps are designed to help prepare the Startup Weekend attendees by giving them technical and non-technical talks.

To open the bootcamp, Jomar Tigcal, commmunity manager of GTUG/GDG Philippines and Vanessa Orendain of Google Business Groups Philippines introduced GDG and GBG, respectively. The topics discussed in the morning were Startup Weekend Overview (Christian Besler), Elevator Pitch 101 (Jonathan Lansangan), Business Plan (Art Ilano) and HTML5 / Chrome Apps / Google App Engine (Alfred Gonzales and his PinoyTuner team). In the afternoon, Startup Weekend alumni Rafael Oca, Kit Yee, Riela Antonio shared their experience and gave some tips. Rico Sta. Cruz also discussed Turning Ideas into Buttons and Charo Nuguid talked about Android .
