GDGPH @ 6
GDG Philippines turned 6 (on November 19) and +Eiji Kitamura, Chrome Developer Advocate ,was in town so we organized Chrome Dev and GDGPH Anniversary GeekUp last November 29, 2013.
We started the meetup with a video from +Van Riper and +Adriana Cerundolo from the Google Developer Relations Team in Mountain View.
The meetup was held at Globe Corporate Showroom. After Eiji's talk about Chrome Dev Tools, +Jomar Tigcal presented the history and future of GDG Philippines. +Anne Michelle Santos, Developer Relations Manager of Globe Labs, also gave a talk about their newly launched APIs. Gino Tria +Gino Tria of +Collabspot presented their entry to the Google Cloud Developer Challenge.

GCDC Workshop Wednesdays
Google recently launched the Google Cloud Developer Challenge 2013. Google Cloud Developer Challenge (GCDC) is a "contest designed to motivate and reward entrants who develop applications that are based on Google's Cloud Platform that are original and relevant to the region in which they live".
Two of the winners last year are from the Philippines: Collabspot Notetaker and Events KIT. The deadline for the first round submissions is on November 21. Submission will be opened on October 22.
To prepare those who would like to join the competition, GDG Philippines is organizing a series of workshops called GCDC Workshop Wednesdays at (6:00-9:00 PM) at Globe Corporate Showroom (Ground Floor, Valero Telepark, # 111, Valero Street, Makati City) [Map]
Below are the schedule so far:
- October 2: Overview of GCDC (TBA) and Google App Engine (Edge Dalmacio, Senior Software Engineer at Orange & Bronze, co-founder of Haybol.ph)
- October 9: Usability/Accessibility (Elymar Apao, Product Manager and Co-founder, UsabilityPhilippines.com and Mark Lacsamana, UI Engineer, Sulit.com.ph)
- October 23: Creative use of YouTube API (George Vanous, CEO and founder of any.TV)
- October 30: Google Maps Javascript API (Wayne Manuel)
