Android Masters 2016 Finals

Android Masters, our collegiate inter-school Android app development challenge open to all universities and colleges across the Philippines, is now on its second year.

We received a total of 193 app entries from 45 schools across the Philippines. We have selected five finalists each per category (games and productivity/utility) who will be presenting their apps on November 19, 2016 at Natividad Fajardo Auditorium in De La Salle University Manila.

GDG DevFest Philippines 2016

GDG DevFest Philippines 2016 will be on October 2, 2016 at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, Taguig City. GDG DevFests are large, community-run events that can offer speaker sessions across multiple product areas, all-day hack-a-thons, code labs, and more. GDG DevFest Philippines 2016 will bring you the latest Google technologies with the world experts, hands-on activities that will challenge your skills, and fun and exciting games!

GDG Campus Roadshow: UE-Caloocan

GDG Philippines, in cooperation with UE-Caloocan's League of Information Technology Students, conducted a GDG Campus Roadshow at Multimedia Room 3A, Tan Yan Keee Building on August 5, 2016.



Juvar Abrera, GDG Philippines Creative Manager, introduced GDG Philippines to the attendees. Jomar Tigcal, GDG Philippines Community Manager, shares about various Google Developer Technologies that the students can use. Afterwards, there was a short break.

Ignite the Maker in You!

Registration is now officially open for the most awaited Android Masters 2016. Android Masters is a collegiate inter-school Android app development challenge. It is open to all universities and colleges across the Philippines. The main objective of the program is to encourage students to develop their creative app ideas and publish it to Google Play Store.

Progressive Web App Dev Summit 2016 Live Viewing Party

Google and the Chrome team will be hosting the Progressive Web App Dev Summit 2016 in Amsterdam on June 20th and 21st. The summit will be two days of talks, codelabs and access to the Chrome engineers to discuss the future of the web.

GDG Philippines will be organizing a live viewing party on June 20, 2016 (3:00 PM to 8:00 PM) at Globe Corporate Showroom, Valero Telepark, Makati City.

Google I/O 2016 Extended Roadshow

Google I/O is Google's annual developer conference, where they share the latest products and technologies. We're bringing the I/O experience to different cities Google I/O Extended Roadshow, a series of talks and workshops to help professional and student developers deep dive in the new technologies announced during Google I/O 2016.

Google I/O 2016 Manila Live-Viewing Party

Google I/O is Google's annual developer conference, where they share the latest products and technologies. Google I/O 2016 will be held in Mountain View on May 18-20. If you are not attending in person, you can get the I/O experience by watching I/O Live at the website or by attending Google I/O Extended events being organized by Google Developer Groups and other communities worldwide.

GCP NEXT Extended 2016 Manila

GCP NEXT is the largest gathering of the Google Cloud Platform community to explore the latest developments in cloud technology. GCP NEXT 2016 was held in San Francisco, California on March 23-24. GDG Philippines is organizing a GCP NEXT Extended event this April 14.



Program

There will be the Keynote and talks in the morning. In the afternoon, there will be hands-on codelabs. Please bring your own machines for the hands-on.

Women Techmakers Manila 2016

GDG Philippines is organizing Women Techmakers Manila 2016 at Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University Manila on March 19, 2016. The goal of the event is to empower women to pursue their dreams and build tools that will change the world. There will be invited talks from different women speakers who are excelling in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, technopreneurs, code labs, and breakout sessions.

Android For Beginners Study Jams



Google Developers Groups Study Jams is a free series of global, community-run, in-person study groups. Last year's Study Jams focused on the Android Fundamentals Udacity Course. Check out the video summary below:



The second Study Jams series is presented in partnership with Udacity and will follow their Android Beginners curriculum. If you are interested in the Android for Beginners Study Jams, join the live Hangout on Air on February 5 (7-8:30 AM, Philippine Time).

This year, GDG Philippines will be partnering with schools/collleges/universities for the Study Jams. If you are a teacher/professor/instructor and you are interested for a Study Jams in your school, please send us an email at gdgphilippines@gmail.com (with the Subject "Study Jams"). If you are already a developer and you are interested in the Study Jams:
What will participants in the Study Jams get? Aside from mentoring from facilitators, they will also get completion certificates, schwags, discounts to the Android Nanodegree, and more if they will be able to present their final projects.
